▪️….”Murphy Has Not Disappointed the Young Generation” — Rt. Hon. Mfon Idung

The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly (AKHA) Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs has applauded the administration of the Executive Chairman of Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Evangelist Edidiong Inyang, for what it described as remarkable developmental achievements and prudent leadership within one year and nine months in office.

The commendation came during the Committee’s oversight visit to the local government as part of its 2026 inspection tour of the 31 local government areas in Akwa Ibom State, in accordance with the oversight responsibilities of the State House of Assembly.

Addressing the Council’s management at the Chairman’s Office in the Council Secretariat, Nung Udoe, the Chairman of the Committee and Member representing Etim Ekpo/Ika State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Mfon Idung, praised the visible transformation recorded under the current administration, describing it as a reflection of purposeful governance and responsible leadership.

According to him, the Committee was impressed by the level of infrastructural development and the improved working environment at the Council Secretariat, noting that the changes were evident from the moment they arrived.

He particularly commended the Chairman for executing people-oriented projects, including the distribution of electricity transformers to communities across the wards, describing the initiative as a practical response to the needs of the people.

Rt. Hon. Idung observed that despite spending less than two years in office, the Chairman had demonstrated exceptional leadership, stressing that the achievements recorded were driven by commitment to public service rather than the size of the council’s allocation.

He further described Rt. Hon. Inyang as a worthy representative of the younger generation of leaders, declaring that he had justified the confidence reposed in him through impactful governance.

“Murphy has not disappointed the young generation,” the Committee Chairman remarked, adding that the administration has set a commendable standard for local government leadership in the state.

In his remarks, the Executive Chairman, Rt. Hon. Evangelist Edidiong Inyang, welcomed the Committee and expressed appreciation for the visit, describing legislative oversight as an important constitutional responsibility that promotes transparency, accountability, and effective service delivery.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining people-focused development programmes and delivering the dividends of democracy in line with the ARISE Agenda of the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno.

The visit was attended by the Vice Chairman, Obonganwan Goodness Emmanuel Obot; the Secretary to the Council Dr. Edidiong Augustine Essien; the Head of Local Government Administration, Mr. Godwin Duff; Councillors, Supervisors, Directors, and other management staff.

The Committee later embarked on an inspection of ongoing and completed projects across the local government area and expressed satisfaction with the quality, pace, and impact of the projects executed by the present administration.
