The fourth round of Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE Food Security Programme reached its 20th local government area, as thousands of rural families across Mkpat Enin received free food supplies.
Delivering the Governor’s message at the distribution venue, the General Manager of the Akwa Ibom State Bulk Purchase Agency, Hon. Unyime Etim, highlighted the milestone as a testament to responsive governance.
“The Governor, being deeply compassionate and knowledgeable, recognized the need for this initiative, and its impact across the state speaks for itself.”
Reaffirming the state government’s commitment to rural development, Hon. Etim explained that the food drive serves as a direct complement to key infrastructure and agricultural projects already underway across the council area.
In his address, the Executive Chairman of Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, Hon. Emmanuel Inyang, described the intervention as a significant blessing, one that has further cemented the trust and support of the people for the current administration.
He emphasized that prioritizing grassroots welfare through direct, targeted intervention remains the true mark of a leadership committed to easing the daily economic burdens of its people.
“Governor Umo Eno has the well-being of the women, the children, and the youth of Mkpat Enin at heart.”
Joining in the commendations, the Chief of Staff to the Council Chairman, Elder Michael Ekpe, praised the state government for expanding the food volume to ensure no ward was left behind.
“Distributing 5,000 bags last year was commendable, but scaling it up to 7,000 bags this year is a significant stride that deserves full recognition.” Ekpe stated.
Among the beneficiaries gathered was Sylvanus Sunday, who noted that for a parent striving to keep food on the table, the Governor’s intervention comes as a crucial lifeline for his children.
Several other beneficiaries lauded the Governor for keeping vulnerable households at the center of his policies, offering prayers for the continued success of his administration.
Beyond the bags of rice and beans handed out in Mkpat Enin, the intervention continues to reaffirm Governor Eno’s governance strategy, centered on grassroots dignity and direct social investment.
