The Akwa Ibom State Government has intensified preparations for the official flag-off of the Federal Government’s Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) Debit Card Distribution exercise by engaging key stakeholders to ensure a smooth, peaceful and successful implementation across the 31 Local Government Areas of the State.
Speaking during a strategic meeting held on Monday, June 29, 2026, at the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Government House, Uyo, the Hon. Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Princess Emem Ibanga, met with the 31 Local Government Council Chairmen, the Dean of Coordinators of the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme, the State Programme Manager and representatives of TeasyPay Financial Services to deliberate on modalities for the commencement of the exercise.
Princess Ibanga explained that the meeting was convened to secure the commitment and cooperation of all stakeholders, particularly the Local Government Council Chairmen, towards ensuring an orderly, transparent and seamless distribution of the debit cards to beneficiaries across the State. She stressed the importance of adequate security, proper coordination and effective community sensitization to prevent any form of disruption during the exercise.
The Commissioner urged the Council Chairmen to take ownership of the programme within their respective local government areas by working closely with security agencies, programme coordinators and other relevant stakeholders to guarantee a hitch-free exercise.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Frank Archibong, emphasized the importance of the initiative and urged Local Government Council Chairmen to ensure effective coordination, security, and collaboration for the successful distribution of the CCT debit cards.
Responding, the ALGON Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Chapter, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo, assured the Commissioner of the unwavering support of all the Local Government Chairmen. He pledged their commitment to providing the necessary cooperation and ensuring that the debit card distribution exercise is conducted peacefully, efficiently and without any form of rancour across the State.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for stakeholders to harmonise operational strategies and reaffirm their commitment to the successful implementation of the Federal Government’s Conditional Cash Transfer Programme, aimed at promoting financial inclusion and improving the welfare of vulnerable households in Akwa Ibom State.
Also in attendance were the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Frank Archibong; the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Mrs. Eno Akpan; the State Programme Manager of the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme, Mr. Innocent Okure; Chairmen of the 31 Local Government Areas, as well as other relevant stakeholders.\
